Each of these divisions represents one part of the overall Nortec base, and it is your job as Commander of these divisions to protect the base while its field operations are completed.

You and your teammates will have to work together to survive the continuous onslaught of powerful alien threats and horrors – the goal of the mission is not to wipe out these threats, it is merely to outlast them!

Pros and cons of XenoShyft app for iPhone and iPad

XenoShyft app good for

There is no sound on my iPhone 6+ with this app.. Could you fix it plz, thx
Thanks for fixing the card graphics glitch. This is a great and challenging deck builder with some unique mechanics.
The latest update fixed all my problems. I highly recommend this difficult but rewarding game.

Some bad moments

This is a nice solitaire/coop boardgame. Sadly, it is marred by interface issues (selecting a card to apply an effect - one of the most common mechanic of the game - is incredibly glitchy) and, more importantly, a totally game-breaking bug that makes one of the enemies (the Centipede) lock your game in a "done - cancel" loop, resulting in an uncompletable run. That such a _huge_ bug could make it past any sort of testing really makes one questions whether the developpers of this game even tried to complete a playthrough at least once. Again, the game beyong those problems being great, this is jarring - if not infuriating. What a terrible waste.
XenoShyft started off as a pretty fun cooperative game where you and your friends played as different divisions of an evil megacorp that has run afoul of some alien bugs who dont take kindly to your mining operation. I was excited to see this iOS version of it for only $2, until I saw how cheap and bad it is. You know a game has a bad interface when the tutorials awful robot voice (which is often drowned out by over-dramatic music) tells you that youll need to minimize the tutorial text in order to complete the next step of the tutorial. The devs should have just programmed that text prompt to pop up somewhere OTHER than on top of the card you had to select, but its clear that the priority on this adaptation of the physical game was "cheap and fast" rather than polish. This is one of those digital card games that makes almost no attempt to take advantage of its digital nature. Your troops attack and health numbers go up to reflect bonuses from their equipment, but thats about it. They didnt even make it easy to see what cards you have in your hand. If youve played the physical version of XenoShyft, you know that some equipment cards can be used to change how combat plays out. Take a moment to imagine how youd program that into a digital version of the game. Are you imagining it? Good. Now heres how this app does it - the screen zooms in and only shows the troop and the alien that are fighting. Got an auto-turret on a guy at the back of your lane that you could use to insta-kill an alien before it kills your guys? Well, better remember that (and use the games awkward method for switching between equipment cards on a troop) and zoom out and use it. Combat doesnt even have a visual indicator for when one side gets a special "first strike" attack, even though thats a HUGE deal. If you reduce an alien to zero health with an effect, it just stays there (probably because of a sloppy way of programming the aliens who come back to life after their first death) leading to some awkward "Wait... did I kill it or not?" moments. It would have added a ton of personality to the game if each troop spoke some lines (like that one card game thats stupidly successful on iOS), but no, all we get is the robot narrator. Troops dont even scream when they die. The militia card has no text and is blurry. Great quality control in this game! XenoShyft can be played solo, but it really works best as a multiplayer game, and it requires a LOT of coordination between players. "Oops, Im fighting a boss, does anyone have a spare grenade?" "Can I use your discount so I can afford that armor?" That sort of thing. This app is so bad that Im not going to slog through a multiplayer game to see if theres ANY mechanism for properly communicating, but I doubt it!
First of, lets give the game its due: its fun to play and the artwork is superb. The game is ment to be played online with other players to tag team the game in coop. The big problem is that theres NO GAMES ONLINE! So youre pretty much cut out of most of the fun of the game. It would of been simple for the developper to add a capitain chair mode where a single player can play multiple roles like pandemic for example but I guess they thought more money could be made if all people had a copy... Presently, theres too many things wrong with its present form to be worth the price thats asked. Important bugs that need to be ironed out that have a direct impact on the game play. For example: -impossible to pick trrops from the discard deck which renders some cards dead weight. -crashes intermitently. -cant resume a game. So if you had to close your ipad for some reason all progress is lost. The games already hard enough toco additionnal handicap of bad playtesting.
I just installed the new update and now it only displays a weird zoomed in look on the left side of every card. When you hover over a card to zoom and view it you cant even read it because its zoomed in so bad. Please fix this and for those that havent downloaded latest update, dont.
The tutorial freezes halfway through and nothing will let me continue.
Centipedes still dont work right since they added needing to press "Done" after every stage of combat. Games take forever and the bugs make it unenjoyable. I feel like Ive given this game enough chances. I can no longer recommend buying this b Great game but SO frustrating that they dont thoroughly test each release!!!
